Honey mustard dressing. It’s a pantry staple, a familiar friend on countless salads and sandwiches. But let’s be honest, sometimes it can feel a bit, well, bland. Maybe overly sweet, or just a little sad for lack of a better word. Don’t worry, I will show you how to make The Perfect Homemade Honey Mustard Dressing!

The Perfect Homemade Honey Mustard Dressing

Making the Perfect Tangy-Sweet Dressing

It’s a classic condiment, gracing salads, burgers, and even dipping platters for decades. But let’s be honest, store-bought versions often fall short getting it just right. Sure pre-made dressings are convenient, but they lack the flexibility that comes with whipping up your own.

My homemade version gives you complete control, allowing you to adjust the sweetness, tang, and creaminess to your exact preferences. Want a subtle sweetness? Opt for less honey. Craving a punch of mustardy heat? Dial up the Dijon or add spicy brown mustard instead. The possibilities are as adaptable as you need them to be.

What You’ll Need:

The beauty of this recipe lies in its accessibility. No fancy ingredients are required, just pantry basics like honey, Dijon mustard, and mayonnaise. Whisk them together, and you’ve got a dressing that’s destined to be on a regular rotation. If you want to mix it up, see below for variations.

Mayonnaise

Dijon Mustard- Dijon adds a sophisticated depth, while whole grain mustard delivers a rustic punch. Experiment and discover your perfect balance.

Honey- The honey brings a warm, floral depth that complements the mustard’s sharp bite.

Paprika- Just a little bit.

Customize it!

This is where the fun begins. Feel free to change it up and experiment. Here are some new flavor ideas:

  • Spice it Up: Add a pinch or two of cayenne pepper to replace the paprika for a bit of heat.
  • Spicy Mustard: Not a fan of cayenne? Keep the paprika and swap out the Dijon for a spicy brown mustard.
  • Curry Honey Mustard: Mix in a bit of curry powder for an earthy warmth.
  • Greek Yogurt Honey Mustard: Replace some mayo with Greek yogurt for a lighter and tangier option.
  • Smoky Chipotle: Add a dollop of chipotle paste for a smoky depth and subtle heat.
  • Spicy Sriracha: Mix in a touch of sriracha for a fiery kick, perfect for those who like it hot.

Beyond the Salad Bowl…

  • Grilling: Use it to baste onto grilled chicken or pork.
  • Burgers: Spread it on your burger bun for an extra layer of flavor and juicy goodness.
  • Dipping & Sauces: Think charcuterie boards, appetizer trays, potlucks. Dunk carrot sticks, cucumber slices, or even roasted vegetables for a fresh snack. Or go wild with some homemade pretzel bites that pairs perfectly with this as a sauce. Even chicken tenders are a delicious pairing.
  • Sandwiches: Drizzle it on your next grilled cheese or turkey club for an upgrade.
