Forget bland, boring food. It’s time to crank the flavor and make some Homemade Cajun-Style Spice Blend for Soups, Rubs, and More. No more of those store-bought bottles filled with mystery ingredients and sodium surprises. It’ll transform everything from burgers to grilled chicken, soups, stews, chili or crockpot meal. Just whip up a batch for your pantry and the next time you need a touch of heat & extra flavor, this will do the trick.

Why go homemade?
Well, let me count the ways the flavor can’t be beat (besides the obvious “impress your friends” factor, which trust me, you will):
- Freshness: No more dusty, mystery-filled packages lurking in the back of your cabinet. Homemade means bright, vibrant spices that release their aromas into your kitchen with every shake.
- Heat to your heart’s content: You like it mild? Scorch your taste buds? This blend is your canvas. Adjust the cayenne to your spice tolerance and paint your food with fiery passion.
- Customize it: Feelin’ adventurous? Add a pinch of chipotle for a smoky twist. Crave a touch of citrus? Zest in some orange peel. This blend is your playground, so let your inner Cajun chef run wild!
- Budgeting: Ditch the overpriced spice jars. This homemade blend costs pennies compared to store-bought, making you the financial hero of the spice aisle.
What You’ll Need:
Smoked Paprika- Regular paprika is ok too.
Granulated Garlic– Use granulated and not powdered, if powdered is all you have, you can use a little less if you wish.
Italian Seasoning- It’s a just right blend of dried herbs.
Granulated Onion- Same as with the garlic, use granulated. If not, you can use a little less.
Celery Powder- This adds a unique flavor, I love adding it here. It is optional but if you buy it I do have other recipes using it such as Sweet & Tangy Baked Beans.
Cayenne Powder- If you like heat, add more. If you prefer a more mild blend, reduce it.
Coarse Black Pepper
White Pepper
Salt- Make as written or adjust the salt as you prefer. You can make this salt-free if you like, just be aware if you are using it this way in my other recipes such as Cajun Meatball Soup.
